The Mutual Defense of Democracy Treaty between the Federation of Gjorka and the Greater Republic of New Gandor is a treaty that was signed on August 25, 2022 in New Union City, New Gandor by Presidents Carter Morris of Gjorka and Jacek Sekorsky of New Gandor. The treaty requires both nations to come to the defense of the other in the event of attack on the democracy of either nation as well as promotes increased trade and cooperation between the two parties.

Background

Obligations

In the Treaties first clause, it calls on both parties to settle disputes via peaceful means.

In the treaties second and third clauses, it obligates both nations to defend each other if "attacked by foreign forces attempting to overthrow the democratic institutions" as set forth by each nation's constitution. It's fourth clause facilitates the sale of 15 New Gandorian F-16s to Gjorka.

The fifth clause of the treaty obligates Gjorka to reduce tariffs on steel and coal to New Gandor.

The treaty's sixth clause calls on both parties to facilitate and promote cooperation and trade with one another.

The last and seventh clause of the treaty obligates both parties to host naval exercises within one year of the treaty's signing.
