The Shanguo-class amphibious assault ship is a ship class of landing helicopter assault (LHA) type amphibious assault ships built by the Monsilvan company, Kuohai Shipbuilding Corporation. It is named after the Monsilvan for Monsilva '山国' (pinyin: Shānguó). Construction of the ships began in 2008 and the first ship was commissioned in 2013. The class is heavily inspired by the Kivuian Buchthafen-class amphibious assault ship. The ships in this class were designed to meet many specific requirements requested by the Monsilvan Navy, and although construction was completed by the Kuohai Shipbuilding Corporation, it was assisted by multiple other domestic companies alongside Bluefront Inc., the Kivuian company which designed the Buchthafen-class.
Bluefront Incorporated provided design, technology transfer, equipment and technical assistance to the KSC for the design and development for the first ship of the Shanguo-class.
