The International Federation of Basketball (INBA; Kivuian: Internationaler Basketballverband) is an association of national organizations which governs the sport of basketball worldwide. INBA defines the rules of basketball, specifies the equipment and facilities required, organizes international competitions like the INBA World Cup and the INBA Tournament of Champions, regulates the transfer of athletes across countries, and controls the appointment of international referees. A total of x national federations are currently members, organized since 2009 into four regions: North Ecros, South Ecros, Ostlandet, and Sur.
The INBA World Cup is a world tournament for men's national teams held every four years. Teams compete for the Khotshir Trophy, which is named for the origin city of basketball, Khotshir, Uulgadzar. The tournament structure is very similar but different from the Terraconservan Cup for association football. The INBA World Cup has always taken place the year after the Terraconservan Cup since its inception in 1953. A parallel event for women's teams, the INBA Women's International Cup is also held quadrennially. It has been held one year after the men's tournament since its inception in 1986.
The INBA Tournament of Champions is a world tournament for men's clubs held every four years. The tournament structure is the same as the INBA World Cup, but with clubs instead of national teams. It has taken place the year before the INBA World Cup since its inception in 1992.
