Diwali Odhrán Ustya VI (Sequoyan: ᏗᏩᎵ ᎣᏓᏩᏅ ᎤᏍᏘᎠ Ꮧ;[note 3] born 22 March 1998) is a Sequoyan activist, political commentator, and TuVuiste who hosts the Modern News with Ustya podcast on TuVu. Ustya mainly covers Sequoyan politics and current events on his podcast, on which he is known to promote left-wing views.
Ustya is a member of the Democratic Party. He openly donates to the Democratic Party, participates at party campaign events, and is a local party organizer in Kalgaduv. As a Democratic Party organizer, Ustya has planned protest marches and campaign rallies in Kalgaduv. Ustya is a direct descendant of Sequoyan Prime Minister Diwali Ustya II, and Ustya self-identifies as a follower of Ustyism (a left-wing ideology which adheres to Diwali Ustya II's policies). Ustya also identifies as a democratic socialist and a progressive.

Early life
Diwali Odhrán Ustya VI was born on 22 March 1998 in Kalgaduv, Sequoyah. His father is Diwali Ustya V, a Sequoyan lawyer and politician, and his mother is Laoise O'Carolan, a Paleocacherian economist. Ustya has an older sister, Inola, and a younger brother, Wahkan. Ustya attained Paleocacherian citizenship in 2000 at the age of two as both of his parents were Paleocacherian citizens.
Ustya's parents met in Liberty City, Paleocacher in the early 1990s. Ustya's family had been exiled from Sequoyah since 1959 after Sequoyan Prime Minister Diwali Ustya II (Ustya's great great grandfather) was overthrown by President Gawonii Atsvedy. From 1959 to 1991, the Ustya family lived in exile in Paleocacher in fear of imprisonment by the Sequoyan government. In 1991, President Ahuli Ahula issued pardons to members of the Ustya family who had been charged and convicted in absentia of various crimes, and the following year, Ustya's parents moved Sequoyah and settled in Kalgaduv where Ustya was born and raised.
Ustya graduated from the Diwali Ustya II Secondary School in Kalgaduv in 2016. He enrolled at the University of Kalgaduv the following year to study law and political science. Ustya graduated in 2020 as a bachelor of law and political science. He was his class' valedictorian and was awarded the Municipal Medal of Excellence by Atohi Cacawesa, the mayor of Kalgaduv.
Host of Modern News with Ustya
In 2017, Ustya created the Modern News with Ustya podcast and hosted it on a TuVu channel of the same name as a project for one of his college classes. On the podcast, Ustya discussed Kalgaduvian and Western Sequoyan politics and current events. He continued to host the podcast throughout his college studies, and after he graduated, Ustya began to host Modern News with Ustya full time.
Political activism
Early activism
Ustya joined the Democratic Party in 2017. He joined the party as he agreed with many of the party's left-wing ideologies as well as because it was the party that almost all of his family members were a part of. Ustya attended several party meetings in Kalgaduv and was granted membership on the Kalgaduv Democratic Party's organizing board in 2018 due to his familial connections to the party. Ustya's first responsibilities on the organizing board included helping to acquire permission from the Kalgaduv municipal government to hold Democratic Party rallies at public locations in the city.
In 2020, Ustya participated in several campaign events for Gawonii Wohaya, a lawyer who was seeking to be elected as the governor of Western Sequoyah. He worked as an organizer for several protest marches in Kalgaduv against Atohi Waya, the incumbent governor who was seeking re-election. Wohaya ultimately came in second to Waya during the gubernatorial election. That same election cycle, Ustya also helped organize campaign events in Western Sequoyah for Unaduti Unadaya, the Democratic Party's candidate for president of Sequoyah. Unadaya was challenging incumbent President Cheasequah Waya of the Federalist Party in that year's presidential election. Unadaya ultimately finished in third place and Waya won re-election.
Political crisis and civil war
After Waya led Sequoyah's accession to the Cooperation and Development Coalition (CODECO) in April 2020, Ustya helped organize several protest marches in Kalgaduv against Waya's government. These protests called for Waya's resignation and for Sequoyah's withdrawal from CODECO, which Ustya described as "a coalition of Creeperian puppet regimes" ("ᏗᏌᏊᎤᎾᎵᎪᎯ ᎤᏍᏗᎤᏪᏴ ᎠᎦᏓᏅᏖᎮᎯ ᎠᏰᎵᎤᏙᏢᎡ"). Ustya vocally supported the 2020 Sequoyan coup d'état led by Admiral Diwali Wesa which led to Waya's arrest and Sequoyah's expulsion from CODECO. After the coup, Wesa promised to hold new presidential elections that October. Ustya supported Democratic candidate Diwali Yansa, the incumbent governor of Itse Ulagohisdi, in his bid for the presidency. Ustya helped organize rallies for Yansa's presidential campaign in Kalgaduv and Western Sequoyah. Yansa ultimately came in second place to Federalist candidate Usti Atagulkalu who served as minister of the interior during Waya's presidency. Ustya accused the Federalists of intimidating voters at polling stations and described the electoral process as a "farse" ("ᏄᏬᏢᏛᎾ"); he called for Wesa to cancel the results of the election and to hold new elections.

Social issues
Abortion
Ustya supports legalizing on-demand abortion in Sequoyah, arguing that it is an "essential human right" ("ᎤᎵᏍᎨᏛ ᏴᏫ ᏚᏳᎪᏛ") for Sequoyan women. He opposes the national bans in place against abortions for mental health and socioeconomic reasons, as well as the provincial bans in Eastern Sequoyah and Western Sequoyah on physical health, rape, incest, and fetal defects. Although he supports legalizing abortion in all circumstances, he has stated that abortions should be prohibited after fetal viability with the exception of risk to the life of the mother, as it is "no different than murder once the fetus can live on its own" ("Ꮭ ᏄᏓᎴᎿᎥ ᎠᏓᎯᏍᏗ ᏌᏊᎢᏳᏩᎫᏗ ᎤᏍᏗ ᎠᎴᏂᏙᎠ ᎤᏩᏌᏊ").
Capital punishment
Ustya opposes capital punishment, describing it as "abhorrent and barbaric" ("ᎠᏂᎾᏰᏍᎬ ᎤᎾᏓᏅᏘᏌᏅᏂᎨᏒᎾ"). In 2022, Ustya stated that everyone sentenced to death in Sequoyah should have their sentences commuted to life imprisonment and that the death penalty should be abolished entirely.

Tribal affairs
Ustya believes that Tribals should have equal representation in the Congress of Sequoyah as Sequoyans. In 2021, Ustya stated that the country's constitution should be amended to mandate that Tribals are allocated at least 40 percent (proportional to the percentage of the Sequoyan population which the Tribals compose) of all seats in the Senate. He also suggested that Tribals should compose at least 40 percent of all political parties' electoral candidates in the People's Assembly elections.

Paleocacher
Ustya supports strengthening relations with Paleocacher. In 2022, Ustya offered to serve as Sequoyah's ambassador to Paleocacher in the event that Wohehiv Avonaco won the 2022 presidential election, to which Wohehiv Avonaco stated that he would consider the offer. After Dustu won the election, Ustya again offered to serve as the ambassador to Paleocacher; Dustu declined Ustya's offer.
