The Second Battle of the Claufenese Sea was a naval combat between Abersiania and New Illyricum, it was the opening combat of the Aberso–Illyrian War and resulted in a Abersianian victory. The Abersianian fleet, led by Captain Henrich Flagten, was ordered by Prime Minister Jeremy Hausch to hold control of the Claufenese Sea at all costs, which led to a standoff between the First Flotilla of the New Illyrian Navy and the Abersianian ships. Soon after the start of the standoff the Illyrian commander, Admiral Mario Antinus issuing an ultimatum giving the Abersianians 24 hours to withdraw. Captain Flagten called for aid and received immediate reinforcements of 6 Frigates, 1 Destroyer, and the pride of the Abersianian fleet, an Air Craft Carrier, the SSH Schillen.
Order of Battle
IN WORK At exactly 22:00 on September 23, with their Submarines opening the battle with a coordinated assault on the Abersianian Aircraft Carrier. However, Schinfes quickly recognized the threat the submarines posed to the Abersianian fleet and deployed the bulk of his forces to counter that threat. Around 00:00 a large storm blew in from the southwest, disrupting communications and threatening Abersiania's air supremacy, which resulted in the SSH Schoefengen and the NIS Apollonia getting disconnected from the main combat and engaging in broadsides in the maelstrom. Both ships took large hits before disengaging at about 01:00 and returning back to the main fleet in shambles. At 01:30 as the battle was reaching it's climax, an Abersianian Foxtail blew up the NIS Andrafolia, killing over 250 people. As the storm moved northwards and away from the battle, the combat winded down and the Illyrian forces eventually withdrew around 02:45, Abersiania had successfully defended the Claufenese Sea and their coasts from the Illyrian attack.
