The Kivuian Army is the main land warfare branch of the Kivuian Armed Forces. The modern Kivuian Army was founded by the new Republic of Kivu in 1907, after the conclusion of the Kivuian Civil War. Prior to 1907 the Kingdom of Kivu operated the Kivuian Royal Army from 1778 until the fall of the kingdom in 1906.

The Kivuian Army is primarily tasked with defending the territory of Kivu and its allies, and supporting the local government (both nationally and internationally) in law enforcement, disaster relief and humanitarian aid missions.

In January 2023, the Chief of the Army was NAME, and the army had a strength of 203,937 active duty personnel and 50,261 reservists.

Structure

The Kivuian Army is commanded by the Chief of the Army, who's primary responsibility is overseeing Army Command. Like their equivalents in the Kivuian Navy and the Kivuian Air Force, the chief of the army is subordinate to the Chief of the Armed Forces, is a member of the Armed Forces Command, and sits on the Federal Military Council.

The Army Command is located in Aurich, Kivu. It oversees the army during peacetime operations such as, the maintianing and expanding the capabilities of the army, the protection of Kivu's territory, the training of enlisted personnel and necessary support staff, and providing the Armed Forces Command with the equipment and personnel necessary to carry out combat operations. The command of units participating in combat operations is usually transferred to either the Armed Forces Command or the command of an international military organzation (usually ACES) that Kivu is a member of. In rare cases, units have been placed under the command of an allied nation.

The army can also be deployed for law enforcement, disaster relief, humanitarian aid, and other related missions, both within Kivu's borders and internationally.

Special Forces

In 1968, the Kivuian Parliament created the Kivuian Special Forces and placed it under the command of the Kivuian Army, some belive that this was an attempt to hide the true number of active personnel in the special forces. The Kivuian Special Forces is made up of three active duty regiments and two reserve duty regiments, and is overseen by the Director of Special Forces.
