History
The city was founded in 698 as "New Icaria, as a refuge for the followers of Ikarius, a philisophical figure during the reign of the Torunian Empire. The original Icaria was a small city on the outskirts of Toruse, the Volnerian city state rules by the Torunian Empire. After the fall of the empire, and Kathmantu's sacking of Toruse (giving rise to the Kathmantu Conglomerate Tribal Empire), followers of Ikarius moved along the Antelanian coast.
Due to the travels of the followers of Ikarias along the west and northern coast of Volneria, the fertile zone in the north of modern day Icaris is known as the Ikarian fertile coast.
Around 900, the Taphkish people ruled the Ikarian fertile coast and renamed the city to Renklisehir, which meant colorful city due to the architectural projects conducted by the Taphkish people. Renklisehir became the capital of the ethnic groups sphere of influence. The ports in Renklisehir were developed under the Taphkish influence.
The Taphkish people lost their influence over the Migazan colony and specifically the Ikarian fertile coast under Empress Elise Ostrovsky in the early 1300s. Common Standard Ursha and Jursanity were spreading and Empress Ostrovsky was embracing a unqiue Migazan identity composed of these elements. The city was renamed Eliseir, or "Elise's City" after her.
In 1415 the Krystallic Empire lost control of the Migazan colony as they gained independence. The Liberated State of Migaza has little control over its territory, but were intent of changing the colonial names of their cities. The city was named Irissa, adopting an Adasiatic-turned-Ursha word for rainbow, or colorful.
When Cal Parsan was elected Chancellor of Migaza, he began a massive overhaul of governing authority under Muhadist influence and changed the city's name to Asifa in 1951, after the Urshawan King who reigned in Urshawabad from 1855-1872, the second-longest serving monarch of the Royal Muhadi Empire of Urshawabad.
The city's name was changed back to Irissa when Icaris was founded as a nation.
