e-Sayette, also known as the Digital pound (Quebecshirite: Livre électronique), is a central bank digital currency issued by Montesayette's central bank, the Monetary Authority of Montesayette. It is legal tender and has equivalent value to other forms of the Montesayettean pound. The e-Sayette was proposed in January 2017 and launched on 29 August 2020. The currency was designed around distributed-ledger technology for instant payments. It also incorporates offline payments through the Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) channel, which works on GSM-based feature phones and smartphones to allow access to basic banking transactions without an internet connection.
