The Algerheaven–The League War began on 10 June 2023, when Algerstonia, delegate of Algerheaven, declared war on all AEGIS signatories.[1] The casus belli for this was an alleged plot by the "Elite Big Tech Scripting Megaregions" and "New Woke Order" to eliminate small regions. The Algerheaven–The League War, and AEGIS–Algerheaven War more broadly, was characterized by a complete lack of military conflict between parties at war, as well as limited military collaboration. The conflict effectively ended on 9 March 2024 when Algerstonia committed "suicide by mod" on the NationStates forums, resulting in his effective departure from NationStates, the deletion of his existent nations, and a sitewide prohibition on others acting on his behalf.

Background 

Algerstonia was a noted NSG shitposter who began posting in the gameplay forums.[2] When the Frontiers and Strongholds update occurred, they transitioned their region, Algerheaven, to a frontier, completing the move on 2 May 2023.[3] This move put Algerheaven at risk of being raided.

It was noted by Sedgistan that under the new framework put in place by the Frontier and Stronghold update, that any concerns over Algerheaven gaining significant numbers of spawning nations had a "obvious gameplay solution", later in the same post saying directly that this solution was to "burn Algerheaven to the ground".[4]

On 7 July 2023, Algerheaven was attacked by a coalition of operatives from the Brotherhood of Malice (BOM) and its subsidiaries alongside the Communist Bloc (TCB), operating with the banner of JUNTA under the leadership of the Generalissima (pseudonym of the then TCB Air Marshall).[5] Under her regime, the region was then operated by JUNTA-appointed regional officers alongside Algerstonia, who quickly returned to the delegacy. During this period of quasi-occupation, the region formed embassies with a number of other BOM possessions and a joint BOM/TCB possessions, and was allegedly sabotaged through having its welcome telegram deleted, which prevented the frontier from receiving newly founded nations. JUNTA controlled Algerheaven was recognized as formally at war with The League by the Generalissima.[6]

Algerhaven's leader, Algerstonia, would later declare regional support for Operation Red October, and supplied pilers to secure the new coalition government against People's Revolutionary Airforce operatives who sought the reinstatement of the TCB-backed Kavamkao regime of Solidarity. For its supportive role in the operation, Algerheaven's pilers were awarded the Red October Medal for participating in the largest anti-raider operation in NationStates history, and the region was later recognized on 19 October as an "Enemy of the Union" by the Social Liberal Union alongside 19 other participant regions as a result of the operation.[7][8]

On 4 October 2023, The Grand Patriot Empire of Algerheaven was established by Hidrandia, and leader Algerstonia left Algerheaven to become delegate in the new region.

On 27 October 2023, the original Algerheaven was subject to an occupation by a coalition of self-declared raider, Frontierist, and Independent regions.[note 5] Assistance from defender regions was refused by Algerstonia, which one outside observer noted as "sacrif[ing] the haven [sic]... so that we would break free of the dark grasp of the AGEIST [sic] ACCORDS".[9] The injunction proposal for Algerheaven put forth by Algerstonia failed at vote, and other proposals for the injunction and liberation of the region failed to meet quorum and were discarded from consideration.[10]

On 9 March 2024, Algerstonia began to post about siteside moderation's inaction in the case of Unibot, a player with a number of outstanding accusations against them, that have been recognized as credible enough to warrant bans from other forums and regions by admin teams that included NS Site Director Sedgistan, NS moderator Crazy girl, and Director of Technology Eluvatar.[11][12] While this topic was publicized onsite historically, and is semi-regularly discussed offsite, Algerstonia's thread "bro imagine letting sex pests be on ns" was quickly deleted alongside their other posts, and they were declared DOS.[note 6]

Legacy

The Republic of The League and Concord no longer recognized a state of war with Algerstonia's departure from the site. On 22 May 2024, Algerstonia attempted to defraud Consul Spode Humbled Minions, claiming to have intelligence that NationStates moderation was going to delete both The League and Concord in three days, and that "the only way to stop this is to pay me $500 in visa gift card so that i [sic] can forward the bribe to the moderation team". This money was not paid, and on 25 May 2024, the regions were not deleted.

As of August 2024, Algerstonia resides in The East Pacific's offsite platforms, where they continue to shitpost.

The Grand Patriot Empire of Algerheaven, successor region to Algerheaven, remains an open frontier, as of August 2024 operating with a hybrid government with a LWU operative appointed as Emperor, but with a native WA delegate and regional officers running the region.

  5. ↑ Independent (capital-I) regions are those who have ratified NationState's Independent manifesto. This is contrasted with lowercase or little-i independent regions, which proclaim seperation from standard Raider-Defender gameplay, but do not subscribe to the Independent manifesto.
