The Şovunkeln language (шовун келн; Western: s̆ovun keln) is the largest language of the Uulgadzan language family. It is spoken natively by the Şovunkyn people of Byasa and is one of the nation's official languages. Approximately 19 million people are fluent in Şovunkeln. It is an official language of COEC.
Şovunkeln developed in isolated communities in what is now the Nyasa province of Byasa around 1450. It spread quickly throughout the regions of the Union of Uul in what is now southern Byasa. It shares many similarities with Uulgadzan, however they are mutually unintelligible. Today, Şovunkeln is most commonly spoken in southern Byasa and is the primary working language for local affairs in the city of Rigrongseb.
