Preambulatory:

  • Concerned about the negative effects industrialization and modernization can have on natural ecosystems, historically and culturally significantly important or unique groups and sites, and on unique geographic features.
  • Recognizing that although nations have the right to use and/or exploit their territories and resources as they see fit some of the aforementioned features and sites have international significance.
  • Realizing that in some cases international efforts must be made to protect ecosystems, cultural sites or groups, and geographic features.

Operative:

  • Defines an Important Geographic Site as: an ecosystem, geologic feature, historically or culturally significant or unique group or site, that is of such importance as to warrant international protection.
  • Calls upon the members of the TCN to send one person with a relevant degree (anthropology, geography, biology) and one diplomat to be their nation's liasons to the IGSS.
  • Empowers the aforementioned survey to create a database of Important Geographic Sites.
  • Requires member nations to obtain the permission of the IGSS to economically exploit, conduct significant construction on, or otherwise tamper with the natural state of an Important Geographic Site.
  • Allows member nations to submit sites within their own territories and within the territories of others to the IGSS for consideration as an Important Geographic Site.
