Politics of Karimun
The Federation of Karimun is a federal state that is governed within the framework of a federal presidential constitutional democratic republic whereby the President of Karimun is the head of state and the head of government who is directly elected, and of a multi-party system. Executive power is exercised by the government led by a president and advised upon by the cabinet who is appointed by the president. Legislative power is vested in both the government and the bicameral People's Consultative Assembly which consists of the Regional Representative Council and the People's Representative Council. The judiciary is independent of the executive and the legislature, the judiciary consists of the Constitutional Court, the Supreme Court, and the Judicial Commission.
The political and administrative organization of Karimun comprises the federal government, the 13 states, 6 cities, and 1 special administrative division.
