Marcus Gaius Caelius (150BC – c. September 110BC) was a Romanyan general during the period of Romanyan Expansion.
Biography
Marcus Caelius was born in the Romanyan province of Arcadia in 150BC. He joined the Romanyan Army when he turned 21 in 129BC.
In 110BC, he was ordered by Lucius Paullus, the governor of Arcadia, to march south and to conquer new territories for the province. He was joined by Quinctilius Varus and Servilius Geminus on the expedition south. In September 100BC, they were ambushed by militias of the Creeperian Confederation lead by Chepīn I and were decisively defeated. Caelius died during the battle, either in action or by being executed, but most historians believe he was killed in battle.
