The Kivuian Navy (Kivuian: Seestreitkräfte) is the largest branch of the Kivuian Defense Forces. Kivuian Navy vessels are given the ship prefix "KNS", short for "Kivuian Navy ship." The Kivuian Navy also includes coastal forces and coastal artillery. Its primary mission is protection of Kivu's territorial waters and maritime infrastructure as well as sea lines of communication. The Kivuian Navy also participates in peacekeeping operations, and renders humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, and participates in anti-piracy operations.

History
The modern Kivuian Navy was formed in 1907 after the conclusion of the Kivuian Civil War. Prior to 1907 the Kingdom of Kivu operated the Kivuian Royal Navy from 1778 - 1905.
