Carlos Jorge Franco y Rodríguez (Creeperian: Ծարլոս Ջորգե Ֆրանծո յ Րոդրձգփեզ; born 16 March 1958) is a Creeperian journalist and news anchor who works for the Gaceta Creeperiano, the largest and oldest news broadcaster in Creeperopolis. Franco Rodríguez has hosted the Asuntos Nacionales con Franco Rodríguez news talkshow on Channel 2 since 2011 and was previously a co-host of Grupo de Cinco from 2005 to 2011. Franco Rodríguez also writes news articles for the Gaceta Creeperiano, most notably for the Asuntos Nacionales editorial, one of the newspaper's most popular and subscribed editorials.

Early life
Carlos Jorge Franco y Rodríguez was born in La'Victoria, San Luís, Creeperopolis on 16 March 1958. His father was Andrés Franco Castillo and his mother was Carolina Rodríguez Pérez, both of whom were retired soldiers who fought for the Catholic Imperial Restoration Council during the Creeperian Civil War. Franco Rodríguez has a younger brother, Óscar.
In 1976, Franco Rodríguez enlisted in the Creeperian Air Force. He worked as an aircraft mechanic at the Gonzalo Vázquez Luján Air Force Base in Nuevo San Juan, San Juan. Franco Rodríguez's service in the air force coincided with the early years of the Deltinian Insurgency, during which, he preformed maintenance on fighter and attack jets such as the Maroto Botín FA-9, Maroto Botín FA-11, and Maroto Botín FA-12. Franco Rodríguez served in the air force until 1983 when he was granted a general discharge at the rank of sub-sergeant.
Journalist career
Early career
After being discharged from the air force, Franco Rodríguez enrolled at the Casa de Martínez University in Tuxtla Martínez, Zapatista in 1984 to study journalism and political science. While studying at the university, he worked part-time at La Prensa TM, a local newspaper in the city. He reported on occurrences and events in Tuxtla Martínez which were a part of the Mara War, an asymmetrical conflict fought between the Creeperian government and paramilitary/criminal gangs. Franco Rodríguez graduated in 1987; the following year, he enrolled at the Antonio Sáenz Heredia University in Nuevo Xichútepa, Xichútepa to continue his education. In Nuevo Xichútepa, he worked for Tiempos de Xichútepa and continued to report on events of the Mara War, however, rather than focus on events in the city itself, he covered the conflict as a whole as it was primarily contained to southern Creeperopolis. He graduated in 1989.
In 1990, Franco Rodríguez began working for the Gaceta Creeperiano, the largest and oldest news publication in Creeperopolis. He wrote articles for the newspaper regarding matters of national-level affairs. In 1996, the Gaceta Creeperiano granted Franco Rodríguez an editorial on page four of the printed newspaper to cover national affairs. The editorial, titled Asuntos Nacionales, became one of the newspaper's most popular editorials through the late-1990s. In 1999, began to contribute to Asuntos Nacionales on the newspaper's website. Franco Rodríguez continued to write articles for the Gaceta Creeperiano separately from Asuntos Nacionales. In 2005, the Gaceta Creeperiano made a subscription required to access Asuntos Nacionales; the editorial has since been one of the newspaper's most subscribed editorials.
Grupo de Cinco
In January 2005, José Fuentes Casanova, a long-time journalist and news anchor for the Gaceta Creeperiano, announced his retirement. Following his announcement, the newspaper sought for his replacement as one of the five co-hosts of the Grupo de Cinco talkshow held every weekday. After installing Santiago Cárdenas Valdéz as an interim replacement, the Gaceta Creeperiano officially named Franco Rodríguez as the new co-host for Grupo de Cinco in July 2005 due to his popularity among the newspaper's readers. On the show, Franco Rodríguez debated the other four co-hosts regarding various political and cultural topics which the talkshow covered.

Personal life
Franco Rodríguez married Andrea Valdéz Carpio in 1981. Valdéz Carpio has been a member of the La'Victoria city council since 2004. The couple met each other in high school and has two children: Nicolás (born 1986) and Catalina (born 1990). Both of their children have pursued careers in journalism and both work as writers for Noticias de la'Iniciativa, the newspaper of the Creeperian Initiative (Creeperopolis' sole-legal political party).Franco Rodríguez is a Creeperian Catholic.
