34-Day War (Reykani: 34 daga stríð), also known as the Reykani Civil War was fought from 4 July 1949 to 7 August 1949 between the Reykani Socialist Republic and the State of Reykanes. Socialist Republic was the Communist faction, originally created in February of 1949, the State of Reykanes was the Far-right Fascist faction, which rose up on the 4th of July, which initially started the conflict. The conflict is viewed as a continuation of the 1949 Revolution, which ended one month before. It resulted as a struggle between Communism and Fascism after both won the revolution. The war has been seen as big as the revolution itself even if it was shorter, since the conflict saw use of tanks and planes respectfully, unlike in the revolution where the first quarter was mostly partisan activities.
The Nationalist Party (Flokkur Þjóðernissinna) was kicked out of the 1949 election, where the Communist Party relegated a hospital fire to them a day before the election. They used the moment to establish the State of Reykanes in southern Reykanes. At the outbreak of the war the State of Reykanes engulfed most of southern Reykanes and some disconnected pockets in the north, with Cape Nátfari being the proclaimed capital. The war started when the Greyshirts attacked a army barracks.
