The 2023 Solidarity raid more commonly known as Operation Red October, is an ongoing multilateral operation to remove The Communist Bloc's influence from the frontier Solidarity, starting on 1 October 2023. Originally planned and executed by the militaries of The Grand Republic of The League and Concord, The Grey Wardens (TGW), Ten Thousand Islands (XKI), Europeia (EURO), The North Pacific (TNP), and Balder (BAL), the operation has since had material support from numerous other organizations from across NationStates.

On 5 October 2023, the raid became the largest counter invasion in NationStates history as the total strength of the provisional government rose to 185, compared to 2015's invasion of the notorious raider organization The Black Riders.

Background

The Communist Bloc, commonly abbreviated as TCB or the Bloc, alienated a number of regions throughout 2021 and 2022 after their region's entry to gameplay and the reinvigoration of the People's Republic Air Force (PRAF). As it expanded ties with the governments of raider organizations The Black Hawks, Osiris, and the Brotherhood of Malice, its treaty to The League strained and then broke. As raider-independent relations deteriorated over 2021–2022, the PRAF became more often called on to provide pilots during operations, aiding the Brotherhood and its subsidiary organizations in holds in The Mystical Council, Greater Sahara, and Magna Aurea.

The Bloc would both continue and intensify its campaign of aggression and hostilities towards independents in 2023, leading an unparalleled assault on The North Pacific on August 27 2023, the most egregious violation of a feeder region in recent memory and a violation which The North Pacific's government would describe as constituting "an act of war".

Raid

On 1 October 2023, a force of operators entered into Solidarity and set to work displacing the regime of Kavamkao. Communication channels were seized, and local authorities were stripped of their positions. The force entrenched themselves and established a provisional government operating under martial law. Three uninvolved governments issued statements denouncing the transfer of power.

Provisional government

The provisional government is composed of members who were present in the initial raid of the region, with three regional officers being LDF officials. A number of regions not originally involved in the attack have provided support in securing the provisional government against the PRAF. Notably, Algerheaven provided support despite the ongoing The League–Algerheaven War, although their precise motivations are unclear, the region's leadership cited a goal to "make NationStates Great Again".

The Ministry of Truth and Minister of Truth Comrade New Makasta have seen a 100% approval rate since the establishment of the new government. The Ministry of Truth's popularity has been reflected in broader opinion polling on the government, with a open vote on 5 October 2023 showing a 100% public approval rating of the provisional government as a whole.

Attempted invasions

Disturbed by the displacement of the Bloc-friendly Kavamkao regime, the PRAF began attempting invasions of Solidarity beginning on 4 October 2023, seeking to overthrow the provisional government and restore Kavamkao to power. These attempts were, between 2 October 2023 – 5 October 2023, shot down from the skies by Brimstone missiles acquired from third party arms dealers. Third party involvement aiding the Kavamkao regime from organizations The Social Liberal Union and The Leftist Assembly has been recorded, but has not had a material impact on the conflict.

Foreign recognition

The provisional government has been largely recognized by the majority of NationStates. The Social Liberal Union's government, a third party supporter of the Kavamkao regime, has not recognized the new authorities as the legitimate government of Solidarity and is taking action to attempt delaying the inauguration of Rhaza as governor with a injunction proposal.
