During the election, the occupying COMISEQ forces monitored the proceedings of the election. Three separate elections occurred for Sequoyah's executive branch: a white presidential election, a tribal presidential election, and a Creeperian vice presidential election. In the white presidential election, incumbent provisional President Augustus Young, who was installed by COMISEQ in December 2020, won the election and an official term as president, defeating Rhett House by a vote percentage of 53 to 47. In the tribal presidential election, Rushing Waters, the leader of the Cheyall tribe, defeated activist Josiah Dezerat by the same margin. Ernesto Castro Aldana, the mayor of San Juan Diego, ran unopposed in the Creeperian vice presidential election.
In the lead up to the election, the CODECO-led government, the tribal militias, and other groups negotiated the future electoral and political system of the country. The negotiation, which took into account the ethnic and racial make up of the country, resulted as follows:
Sequoyah will be led by two presidents and a vice president.
One president will be a white Sequoyan, elected in an election where only white Sequoyans can vote and run.
One president will be a tribal Sequoyan, elected in an election where only tribal Sequoyans can vote and run.
The vice president will be a Creeperian, elected in an election where only Creeperans can vote and run.
Provincial representatives to the Congress will be elected in a single provincial-wide election for each province in a open list proportional representation election.
