The Brumeville Project (Quebecshirite: Projet Brumeville), also known as the Brumeville Municipality Energy Facility (Quebecshirite: Centre Énergétique de la Commune de Brumeville), is a Montesayettean synthesis gas-fired power station and an engineering megaproject located in Brumeville, Audrecelles. It serves as a large-scale demonstration of integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) technology for commercial grid-connected electricity production. The project was initiated as part of President Rogier David's climate action plan, with a focus on "clean coal" technology.
Construction of the power station commenced in 2010 following extensive research, site preparations, contracting, and environmental impact assessments. However, due to technological and procurement challenges, the project experienced a two-year delay. The Brumeville Project stands as a pioneering venture, incorporating gasification and carbon capture technologies on a significant scale. With a total construction cost of ₵2.4 billion, the Brumeville Project ranks among the most expensive power stations ever built. This is considering its substantial generating capacity of 582 megawatts.
