Zyrich Confederation, or Zyrichia, is a fledging nation bordering the nations of Karimun (to the West), Kivu (to the Southwest), and Jackson (to the Southeast). Zyrichia mostly speaks English with very little speakers of any other language. Zyrichia is unique in that it has presidential elections every year. Zyrichia's government is very peaceful and economy focused.
Zyrichia
The Zyrich Confederation is a representative democracy currently under the presidency of Harris Pilot of the ruling Free People's Party (FPP). It consists of sixteen states, with the city of Fallengrad being the federal and administrative capital. It is bordered to its West by Karimun, by Kivu to the Southwest, and by Jackson to the Southeast. Zyrichia is mountainous and heavily forested. The population of 32 billion is predominantly English, and mostly urban.
A developed country with a high standard of living, it upholds a universal health care system. Though generally socially conservative, there is a growing progressive movement in the nation that seeks to decrease the nation's reliance on fossil fuels, protect the environment, and push for greater civil rights for minority groups.
Zyrichia is mountainous and heavily forested. There are three geographic locations, the Great Mountains, Reaper Lands, and the Frontier. The Great Mountains are very mountainous and cover 2/3 of Zyrichia and are lightly forested and snowy. Reaper Lands are heavily forested and covers 10% of Zyrichia. The Frontier is hilly and somewhat mountainous.
Government
Zyrichia is governed under a federal system at three levels: the Confederation, the states and the communes. Thanks to direct democracy, citizens can have their say directly on decisions at all political levels. This wide range of opportunities for democratic participation plays a vital role in a country as it is believed. Zyrichia is a direct democracy. Alongside the usual voting rights accorded in democracies, the Zyrich people also have the right to vote on specific issues. Zyrichia is governed by the Federal Council, a seven-member collegial body whose decisions are made by consensus. Federal Legislators are elected by the United Federal Assembly, which consists of an upper and a lower chamber. The National Council is the lower house, and represents the people. The Council of Legislators is the upper house, and represents the states. Delegates from eleven different parties set forward their views in the current parliament.
Federalism and direct democracy reflect the great importance that the Zyrich political system places on the freedom of choice and self-determination. Fallengrad is the de facto capital city of Zyrichia, though officially it is referred to only as the 'National city'. The Zyrich federal government, (the Federal Assembly of Zyrichia), is made up of seven members, who are elected by Parliament and who are each members of one of the strongest parties. The federal councillors work together to reach a consensus and set the course the country will follow. This form of government is known as a consociational democracy.
The Zyrich Parliament (Federal Assembly of Zyrichia) has a total of 246 members, who are directly elected by the people. Zyrichia has a bicameral parliament consisting of the National Council (64 members) and the Council of Legislators (90 members).
Nine parties are represented in the Zyrich Parliament. Those parties with the largest share of the popular vote are represented on the Federal Council.
