The Tyson R-99 is primarily an airborne early warning and control (AWACS) and reconnaissance aircraft designed and manufactured by Tyson Aviation Systems in 1996 and introduced in 1999.
It is intended to be a modernized and militarized version of an old Tyson airliner, where it provides 20% more thrust than the former. A maritime version of the R-99 is planned and currently in development intended to be used for maritime patrol operations.
