Thjorica is a polytheistic religion deeply ingrained in the cultural fabric of its practitioners, encompassing a belief system that revolves around celestial deities, cosmic realms, and the interconnectedness of divine and mortal forces.

Foundational Myths

Creation

The Warrior's Tapestry: In the celestial realm, there existed a cosmic weaver known as Fathara, who wove the fabric of reality with threads of stardust. Each strand represented an element of the natural world—earth, air, fire, and water. Fathara's creation was a tapestry of balance and interconnectedness, a divine masterpiece. There were no distinct realms, only the celestial world.

Celestial Discord

Orasaj and Ysidri were celestial beings residing in the vast celestial realm. Over time all the celestial beings grew weary of each other and created roles, the Guardians and the Adjudicators. The Guardians were tasked with protecting the foundational order of the celestial realm, while the Adjudicators were to govern, direct, and judge the affairs of their celestial kin. A rift emerged when an Adjudicator pronounced severe punishment on a fellow celestial being, casting them into nothingness, for there was no other realm at the time. This judgment sparked a monumental battle between the Guardians and the Adjudicators, plunging the celestial realm into turmoil.

One celestial being, Orsaj, showcasing unmatched warrior prowess, emerged as a beacon of strength and honor amid the chaos. Recognizing his valor, the celestial beings elevated him to a new role—the Highest of the Gods. In an effort to restore balance and establish order, Orsaj took a monumental step. He formally crafted a lower realm, the Mortal Realm, a domain where beings could experience life, growth, and change.

Ysidri, Orsaj's older brother, consumed by anger and disagreement with Orsaj's actions, chose a different path. In defiance, he cast himself into an intermediary realm, which came to be known as the Bridge—a place suspended between the celestial and mortal realms.

Realms

Thjorica recognizes three distinct realms:

The High Place: The celestial realm where Orsaj reigns supreme, distant and transcendent.

The Bridge: Ysidri's intermediary realm, a space between celestial and mortal, inhabited by beings capable of influencing the Mortal Realm. The Mortal Realm (Bjorland): The earthly realm where mortal life unfolds, influenced by celestial forces.

Practices and Rituals

Thjorican rituals include blood sacrifices to Orsaj and Ysidri. The strongest warrior offers a sacrifice to Orsaj, symbolizing loyalty and strength. The eldest child's blood sacrifice to Ysidri represents a contract, sealing the family's fate in exchange for Ysidri's favor.

Cultural Impact

Practitioners of Thjorica were primarily concentrated in Gjrota. In 706, when Grjota absorbed Ormskirk and began its long quest toward continental dominance; Thjorica practitioners believed it was the bleeding over of the celestial war, Ysiddri's War, or the Final End.

Grjota's conquest was primarily fueled by the concept of northern strength, or "Falja" rather than religion. Grjota's successor state Elkifjor was at its height in the early 11th century. At that time, Elkifjor was composed of 62% of Thjorica believers, more than any other organized set of beliefs at the time.
