The Great Bjorland War

The Great Bjorland War, or more commonly known as the Great War was a major international armed conflict that took place primarily between 1999 and 2015. Initially sparked by long ethnic and colonial tensions, the war escalated and expanded to many belligerents. In 2015, the war came to a horrific end with multiple nuclear strikes and leaving many countries in the ruin of nuclear fallout.

Background

Migaza was a colony of Krystallum, freed, yet tensions remained. The two were often adversaries. Migaza sided often with Urshawabad as an ally, of which Krystallum was firmly opposed.

Pre-War Events

In 1997, a Marlanian ship collided with a Migazan Naval vessel. The Migazan government heavily criticized Marlanglass for lack of proper training of their training. Krystallum came to the Marlanian defense, claiming Migazan presence in the Polonic Sea was imperialistic and they shouldn't have even been there.

In 1998, the capitol city of Migaza, Nelphia, experienced a massive electrical outage. The city was in the dark for 26 hours, during which time massive rioting and crime took place. Migaza blamed Jursan extremist groups for the outage (during this time, Jursans were be genocided by the heavily authoritarian Muhadist government). Krystallum launched an international investigation (via international org Migaza refused to participate in). The international body formally condemned Migaza for human rights violations and Krystallic dignitaries were expelled from Migaza. Migaza placed sanctions on Krystallum. Krystallum responded by sinking a Migazan trade ship under the claim it was accidental.

Course of the war

The sinking of the civilian trade ship forced Migaza to declare war in 1999. Zallanstine entered the war formally siding with Migaza.

The Rioberian civil war-turned-continental war against authoritarianism harmed the national economy so much other nations began to get involved. In 2009, Economic Alliance for Restoration established a peacekeeping army to "negotiate" with the Waldoccian representatives to end the Rioberian civil war. The members of the EAR were Xinglao, Hunagul, Torisinia, and Urshawabad.

In 2015, as the Great War is waging, Kathmantu missile detection site detects an incoming strike across the Polonic Sea from Ljilislovia and respond with a strike of their own. Migaza also launches a strike on Ljilislovia. The detection was faulty, however, once Ljilislovia detects the Kathmantu strike, they and their ally Drauvania launch back on the two nations.

The Lockdown

The Lockdown is the phrase used for the widespread isolation in the aftermath due to nuclear fallout.
