The Rakhmani conquest of Şikomal took place during 1639–1751, when the Kingdom of Şikom became a loose political structure of vassalages that were being undermined by the activities of Rakhmani explorers. Although outnumbered, the Rakhmanis pressured various family-based tribes into changing their loyalties and establishing distant forts from which they conducted raids. It is traditionally considered that Ivan Kovalenko's campaign against the Şikom Kindgon began in 1639. The annexation of Şikomal to Rakhmani was resisted by local residents and took place against the backdrop of fierce battles between the indigenous peoples and Rakhmanis.
