The Alþingi (Parliament in Reykani) is the supreme national parliament of Reykanes. The unicameral body consists of 79 seats. Each party with roughly 1.3% of the national vote is allocated seats based on its proportion of the national vote in order that the number of members in parliament for each political party should be more or less proportional to its overall electoral support. Elections are every 6 years. It meets at the Alþingi in Hafnir, the capital of Reykanes.
