Julianinus Porcellus was an Illyrian general and the consort of Queen Julia I. Julianinus also led the Illyrian forces in the Traulauphian War from c. 980 to 976 before his death from a long sickness in 969 BC.
Early Life
Porcellus was born the son of a royal attendant in the Kingdom of Etruricum at Turis around 1025 BC, where he spent his early years. He and his father fled the kingdom after political upheaval caused a coup d'etat being led by Upiopus Parsus around 1020 BC. The two came to Illyricus where Porcellus lived wandering the streets, with his father dying shortly after their immigration to Illyricus. Porcellus joined the military at age 15 and served under Julius III, to whom he became a favored lieutenant. By 1006 Julianinus was serving as second in command of the army in the First Etrurian War and led a contingent of troops at the Sack of Turis.
Marriage and Political Career
Shortly after the capture of Turis, Julianinus began to court heiress to imperial throne, Princess Julia, and the two married not long thereafter. His marriage became the apex of his rise to power in the Illyrian government and solidified his political friendship with the reigning king Julius III.
Julianinus lived in Julianerea and helped oversee the construction of the acropolis along with leading several military forays against neighboring tribes near the southern regions of Illyricum from his marriage to Julia to the death of Julius III around 995.
