Jónssonism is a socialist political philosophy most closely associated with Kári Jónsson, who was in power during the Reykani Socialist Republic between 1949 and 1957. It is marked by several distinct principles. These include an emphasis on Reykani identity, a command economy, societal self-sufficiency, and a rejection of individual ownership. It seeks to create a society with no class divisions and a focus on collective ownership of the means of production. It also seeks to create a society where individuals are not viewed as autonomous but instead as part of a collective whole. Bjarnasonism aligns with national communist principles and can be viewed as aligning with strategies such as permanent revolution, social revolution, and proletarian internationalism.
