Hafnir International Airport (IATA: HAF, ICAO: RHAF) (Reykani:Hafnirurflugvöllur) is the primary international airport serving Hafnir, Reykanes, , the capital and most populous city in the country. A hub for Reykanair, it connects to 7 domestic and 21 international destinations.
The airport is located 3 kilometers away from the city. It has two parallel roughly north–south runways measuring 3,600 metres (11,811 ft) and 2,950 metres (9,678 ft) and 72 aircraft stands, of which 50 have jet bridges. It is connected to the city via the Hafnir Metro. It is the busiest airport in Reykanes with 8,031,519 passengers per year in 2017.
Originally a military airbase from 1922 till 1961 when it was turned in to a civilian airport and by the late 1980s it was turned in to a international airport. The Airport today was opened on 17 February 1987.

The airport covers an area of 13 square kilometres (5.0 sq mi) , with two parallel runways and a single terminal with two piers on a single line. The passenger terminal covers 265,000 square metres (2,850,000 sq ft). The airport has 72 gates, of which 50 are bridge-connected and 22 are remote stands, with one wing serving domestic travelers and two wings devoted to international travel. The airport is "silent", so announcements for flights are only made in the immediate vicinity of the gate. There is a playground in both the domestic and international sections, and a quiet room in the domestic section. Medical personnel are stationed at the airport. There are 20 restaurants providing food or drink service, stores and other services including banks and a post office. In all, 8,000 square metres (86,000 sq ft) are used for restaurants, stores and non-aviation services. The departure duty-free shop is 1,530 square metres (16,500 sq ft). Most are connected with moving walkways.
