Energy in Icaris
Most of the energy used in Icaris in 2072 came from its nuclear power generation at 50% of its production, while oil and natural gas supplied 30%. 15% was supplied by hydroelectric dams and wind turbines and 5% from solar and geothermal.
In about 50 years, from 2022, Icaris came away from 100% reliance on oil and natural gas to supply energy needs for the nation as part of a movement to rely on nuclear power in the nation.
Throughout the years, various presidential administrations have set quotas for how much energy can be supplied by what sources.
While President Levi Shamir introduced the first efforts for renewable energy in his second term in office (establishing the first solar generated source), President Esra Eisenhardt began the initial investment into nuclear power at the beginning of his tenure. At the beginning of his second term, Eisenhardt pushed an act in Parliament which set a goal that by 2037, 50% of the energy usage in the nation would be supplied by nuclear power.
