Elyas El-Hekim Hlemi (Arabic: إلياس الحكيم الحليمي) is a Chejjarian politician who is currently serving as the President of the Republic of Chejjaria from 7 October 2015.
Born in Dahlieh to a Maronite Christian family, Elyas went to graduate from university with a major in philosophy and then pursued into law school at the age of 27. He then stayed back at his hometown in Dahlieh for 3 years and then became a lawyer at the age of 30. In 1991, he joined politics and aligned himself with the Chejjarian Democratic Forces party and became a member of parliament. He was elected as the mayor of Becharieh from 1994-2000 and then the governor of the Becharieh province from 2000-2006, and then as the president 9 years later.
