The constitution of Tranquillia is the overarching document outlining the basic government structure and rights of all citizens within Tranquillia. The document was signed 4 days after the previous regime was ousted from power and it's adoption with instantaneous. The government maintains that it follows all articles in the constitution however most citizens see the document merely as a "recommendation" and the legislature has a history of ignoring and repealing articles at whim.

Constitution of Tranquillia

Preamble:

Tranquillia is a single-party state that upholds the principles of social and economic equality, justice, and human dignity. The Tranquillian people, united in their common purpose and aspirations, have established this Constitution to govern their affairs and safeguard their rights and freedoms

Article I: The Single Party System

The single party system is the only legitimate political organisation in Tranquillia. The ruling party has the exclusive right to nominate and elect the head of state, the parliament, and all other government officials. The party's leadership is responsible for setting the direction and policies of the state, and for ensuring the well-being of the people.

Article II: The Head of State

The head of state is the Supreme Overseer of Tranquillia and the commander-in-chief of the armed forces. The head of state is elected by the party's leadership and serves for life. The head of state has total power to issue decrees, veto laws, create or remove amendments and declare a state of emergency.

Article III: The National Assembly

The National Assembly is the legislative body of Tranquillia. Its members are nominated and elected by the party's leadership. The National Assembly is responsible for passing laws and regulations that are consistent with the party's policies and goals. The National Assembly has a right and duty to protect the citizens of Tranquillia.

Article IV: Fundamental Rights and Duties

(1) All citizens of Tranquillia are entitled to the following fundamental rights: No citizen shall be subject to discrimination based upon their gender, sexual orientation, age, social status or religion.
(2) All citizens have the right to a public trial and one with minimal state interference, the right to freedom of constructive speech and the right to peaceful assembly, subject to reasonable limits as prescribed by law.
(3) All citizens have the right to life, liberty, and security. A citizens rights to freedom and life shall not be infringed unless prescribed by law.
(4) It is the duty of all military aged citizens to undertake mandatory military server and to defend the nation in times of crisis or as decreed by the supreme overseer.
(5) All Citizens have the right to posses and bear arms as prescribed under law.
(6) All citizens have the right to privacy. The right to privacy is subject to the law and may be hindered at whim or never given and only implied.

Article V: Military

The state may not house, Deploy, Operate or procure a standing offensive force. Any military force shall be kept for the purpose of self defence and sovereign security. The state may not posess or attempt to posses weapons specifically designed for offensive or first strike warfare, The state may not declare war on another sovereign nation nor directly recommend war unless the existential secuirty of the state is threatened or in defence of a nations populous.

Article IV: Amendments

(1) The Supreme Overseer may make any change to the constitution at any time for any reason, The ruling party may choose to ignore or revoke rights of citizens or individuals for any reason at any time.
(2) All Individuals have the right to freedom, a persons right to freedom may be hindered by the state for any reason at any time.
(3) The state may not pass any law designed to discriminate against any person for their gender or sexual orientation.
(4) REPEALED
(5) No individual may own any non consenting person for the purpose of commercial use or slavery unless prescribed by law or executive permission.
(6) All individuals are bound by the laws of Tranquillia while inside her borders.
(7) Any "right" outlined above can be interpreted in any way.
