Call to Duty is a video game series and media franchise published by V.J. Sur, starting in 2003. The first games were developed by Infinit Ward, and then by Treyarcade. The most recent title, Call to Duty: Modern Warfare III, was released on November 10, 2023.
The series originally focused on the Creeperian Civil War and the South Ecros War settings, with Call to Duty (2003) and Call to Duty III (2006) focusing on the Creeperian Civil War, while Call to Duty II (2005) focusing on the South Ecros War. the fourth installment, Call to Duty 4: Modern War (2007) introduced a modern setting, and proved to be the breakthrough title for the series, creating the Modern War sub-series. The other two orignial entries to the sub-series were Call to Duty: Modern War 2 (2009) and Call to Duty: Modern War 3 (2011), the sub-series would see a reboot in 2019 with the release of Call to Duty: Modern War, Call to Duty: Modern War II in 2022 and Call to Duty: Modern War III in 2023. Infinit Ward have also developed two games outside of the Modern War sub-series, Fantasmas (2013) and Forever War (2016).
Treyarcade made one last game set in the early 20th century conflicts, Terraconserva at War (2008), featuring the Creeperian Civil War, South Ecros War, First Ajaki Civil War, and the 34 Day's War before releasing Spec Ops (2010) and subsequently creating the Spec Ops sub-series. Four other entries, Spec Ops II (2012), Spec Ops III (2015), Spec Ops 4 (2018), and Shadow War (2020) were made.
