Bláar Myndir (Blue Pictures in Jackian) is a Reykani 2D and 3D animation studio based in Hafnir, specializing in the production of 3D animated game cinematics CGI and graphics for videogames. Bláar Myndir also provides motion capture services at its own studio, Bláar Motion. It was founded in 2 July 2016 by Oskar Jonasson and Gunnar Karlsson. The company was acquired by DCH Software in 2019 after becoming bankrupt after series of problems.
History
The studio was established in 2 July 2016 by Oskar Jonasson and Gunnar Karlsson as a animation studio and offered production of 3D animated intro movies & trailers for video games. The company also produced some animated movies, like Cat Catcher released in 2016, a 2D animated movie as a opener for the studio and was made for to employ more workers and establish themselves in the animation industry. In 2017, they started their biggest project, The Adventures of Tintin, a computer-animated action-adventure film. Over the course of the production, the film gained a huge budget, which the company couldn't cope with and with a bad advertisement direction, the film didn't get enough ticket sales to settle the difference, thus it had to close down, however DCH Software acquired it in 2019, as a result the company continues to live on. The company mainly works on creating game cinematics, VFX productions for titles released by DCH. Elite: Invasion was the first video game, the company worked on under new management.
