2023 Labour Party leadership election (Tirol)
The 2023 Labour Party leadership election was triggered after Ulrike Kindle announced his intention to resign as the leader of the Labour Party following the party's defeat in the 2023 Tirol legislative election. Kindle formally resigned on 15 May 2023, a day after announcing his resignation. The Party Council decided upon a prolonged timetable for the selection of a new leader, with the new leader elected by September, to be announced at the annual party conference in Trënt. On 26 September, x became the new Leader of the Labour Party.
Procedure
In order to be eligible, the candidate was required to be a sitting Deputy of the National Council (CDT), and must have the support of 10% of the Labour CDTs in the National Council in a preliminary ballot. After the conclusion of the 2023 election, there were 132 Labour CDTs, meaning to be eligible candidates needed to secure the support of 14 CDTs. The preliminary ballot took place on 30 May, with nominations made during the session. The ballot took place between 1 and 24 September and the results were announced on 26 September, the first day of the Labour Party conference. As in all Labour Party elections, three separate votes were held:
- Labour members of the National Council and Senate
- Individual members of the party
- Delegates from associated trade unions normalised by the size of the membership of each union.
Each of these electorates accounted for one third of the final tally and all votes cast used the alternative vote system, as used in elections nationally.
