War of the Reykani Succession was a conflict that lasted from 1324 till 1328 between the royal House of Vilankthian-Tyrne and the rebellious oligarch families, fought over control of the Reykani throne. Viceroy Snorri Sturluson invited Jón Loftsson to claim the throne in 1324, where he traveled to Hafnir and was crowned the King of Reykanes. This was met with opposition and wasn't recognized by the biggest oligarch families, which were nicknamed "Little Kings". They came in to direct conflict at the Battle of Cape Nàtfari, thus starting the War of Succession.

Background

The origins of the conflict can be traced to the demise of King Skapti in 1322, the long-reigning monarch of Reykanes without any heirs nor any family members alive in the country. Following his death with his wife, intense rivalries emerged among influential oligarch families, each seeking to seize control of the regions for their own interests. These oligarchs, possessing great wealth and power, held sway over different regions and wielded significant influence in the kingdom. They were called "Little Kings". Meanwhile before in 1301 Princess Siobhan McGinnis, a member of the House of Vilankthian-Tyrne from Paleocacher, married Jón Loftsson a relative of King Skapti.
