Laugleós is an industrial city located in and the administrative center of Norðurhöfði municipality, southern region of Reykanes, it is situated along the Glerá river. The city is best known for its steelworks and car factories, the largest ones in the country and hosts many domestic and international companies. As of 2022, the city has a total population of 51,907 inhabitants, making it the third largest city in Reykanes, falling behind Cape Nátfari but sitting ahead of Vik.

Laugleós is one of the younger cities in Reykanes with the earliest record of settlement in the 17th century. Mainly inhabited because of mines that were opened near the city. It grew substantially at the end of the 18th century when the first factories were built there. It grew again in the between the 1940s and 1950s after rapid industrialization. It was shortly renamed to Miguel City between 1949 and 1957 and eventually renamed to the original name in 1957. It is one of the few settlements still with Panel buildings left over from the socialist era.
