Brian O'Neill Vilankthian Tyrne (4 February 1840 – 10 September 1866) was the last monarch of Paleocacher. After the untimely deaths of both of his parents to an unknown illness he took the throne at the age of sixteen. He devoted his eight year reign to trying to rebuild political power of the imperial family and using his family's wealth for philanthropic purposes. He viewed himself as a people's king and tried to be as active in the running of the country as he could, this despite the constitutional limitations on the monarchy's power. Upon his ascension to power he began to keep journals chronicling his life and his works. In 1865 he fell in love with a servant girl who worked in the kitchens in his palace. They had an affair and she became pregnant. Upon the birth of the baby she gave it up for adoption and told him about it. He agreed to marry her and to raise the baby as his heir. They kept their engagement a secret and he asked her to accompany him on a diplomatic cruise to several other countries onboard a Navy sloop refitted as a Royal yacht. When the yacht was sailing through the eastern Kivu Ocean towards Karimun it was caught in a hurricane and sunk. Some of the crew survived but the king and his paramour were among the victims. His body was recovered and returned to Paleocacher, but hers was buried in an unmarked grave in a Karimunese church yard. The shipwreck also claimed the Crown Jewels of Paleocacher. The heir to the throne was adopted by a family from Bullmar and he never discovered his heritage. King Brian was much beloved by the Paleocacherian people and is revered as a hero to this day.
