Haythamites (Vaktrian: Haıŧamastaŧ) are members of a Vaktrian ethnoreligious group who originate from Shiya Muslims in Softemla, western Terranihil. The Haythamites are believed to have been founded by Ibn Haytham during the 9th century. Ibn Haytham was a disciple of the tenth twelver Imam.
Haythamites have historically kept their beliefs secret from outsiders. They revere Ali ibn Abi Talib. Despite being descendants of Shiya Muslims, their interpretation of the Quran is generally different from that of Shiya. Haythamite theology and rituals break from mainstream Islam in several ways. Haythamites drink wine as Ali's transubstantiated essence in rituals and drink socially in moderation. They also believe in reincarnation. Thus, many in Islam do not consider Haythamites to be Muslim, and Haythamites have varying identification.
Haythamites make up just under four percent of the population of Terranihil. Most live in Softemla and its surrounding regions.
