Giovanni, officially the Federal City of Giovanni (Bahasa Karimun: Kota Federal Giovanni), is the capital city of Karimun, the fourth-largest city and center for Government & Politics, build in 1949 as a major project to build a capital city from a village, the place where Karimun Aiden Bank, the Karimun Central Bank; The Union Palace which is the Presidential Palace; Garuda Complex, the place where Majelis Permusyawaratan Rakyat (People's Consultative Assembly or MPR) or Legislative located; and Aequitas Hall, the Judicial building.
Situated on the west coast of Karimun, it is the centre of politics of Karimun with a population of more than a million as of 2014. Although Giovanni only covers 699.5 square kilometres (270.1 sq mi), the smallest among any Karimunese provinces, its metropolitan area covers 1,234 square kilometres (476.5 sq mi), Giovanni's business opportunities, as well as its potential to offer a higher standard of living, have attracted migrants from across the Karimun, making it a melting pot of numerous cultures. Gioavnni is nicknamed the "Big Durian", the thorny strongly-odored fruit native to the region, as the city is seen as the only place where you can find Durian everywhere.
Giovanni has two airports, Senior Airport that serves for local & goverment flights and Hatta International Airport which is the biggest airport in the country serving half of the international flights.
