The Emirate of Araz (Arabic: إمارة أرزل, Classical Vaktrian: İmara Arazal) was a Druz nation centered around the city of Araz. It was ruled by the Maan dynasty. The Emirate was mostly populated by Druz, an Arabic-speaking ethnoreligious group descendant from Imrani Muslims who developed a seperate culture, religion, and Arabic dialect. There were also minority populations of Imranis and Astrians. Druz were considered heretics and were persecuted by the Haltemid Caliphate. The Druz revolted against the Caliphate and established the Emirate in 1200. It lasted for 45 years and had four Emirs. The Emirate of Araz was invaded and conquered by the Empire of Terranihil in 1245.
