Elise Shamir (b. 2003) is a politician and activist. She serves as the 4th President of the Theocratic States of Icaris, State Minister from Icaris and the Minister of the Department of Judicial Oversight. She is the daughter of former President Levi Shamir of Icaris. Elise Shamir was a part of a populist movement away from the staunch traditionalism inside the dominant political party, the Traditionalists. Her predecessor, Avi Navon, a fierce conservative Traditionalist, created policies that eventually led to more openness to more progressive policies and the growth for support of them. In 2034, she ran on a moderate Traditionalist platform, agreeing to more socially liberal policies such as increased welfare spending, rights for the LGBT+ community, and environmental legislation. Once elected, she acted on these goals, by appointing the first Libertist Prime Minster, Danyal Sadik, from the State of Hercules. This decision, however, turned sour when in 2047, violence erupted in the State of Diztana, a largely ___ religion, which holds in its doctrines being anti-Nantist. The State Minister, Amir Namazi called for independence of his state for much of 2046, and in 2047 a militia was created to fight for that independence. Early on, Elise Shamir put it in the hands of Danyal Sadik to silence or control Namazi and make the solve the problem. He however, was unsuccessful in this. In 2047, after violence had erupted, President Shamir called the national military to the State of Diztana, and they arrested the violent protesters and decimated the militia. Namazi was put on trial and eventually assassinated by moderate ___ (religion against Nanti), because they felt the disenfranchisement of their religion would only get worse with violence. Shamir was unhappy with how Danyal Sadik handled the situation, but to much of the nation's surprised, she re-nominated him for the Prime Ministry in 2052. This was short lived, and after many rumors of distrust and insubordination between the Prime Minister and the President, Sadik resigned his post, most likely at the request of President Shamir. Elise Shamir then nominated Clyde Schneider as Prime Minister, a former Naval officer and Minister of Defense. This move was praised highly by moderate Traditionalists.
