In Tirol, a driving licence is the official document which authorises the holder to operate motor vehicles on public highways and roads. It is administered by the Tiroler Transport Agency and produced by the Tiroler Statsdrucarìa. A driving licence is required anywhere in Tirol for any person driving a vehicle on a public highway of road.
As Tiroler nationals do not normally have identity cards, a photographic driving licence commonly serves the purposes of an identity card in non-driving circumstances, such as proof of identity or age.
