Düsuntberg officially the State of Düsuntberg (Kivuian: Staat Düsuntberg), is a state in eastern Kivu bordering the states of Landerberge, Blahimil, Neuerstaat, Gerstungen, Welzen, and to the south Düsuntberg is borded by the country of Jackson. Braunschweig is the state capital of Düsuntberg, as well as the largest city. Düsuntberg is the fifth-largest of Kivu’s twenty five staats, with an area of 99,741 square kilometres (38,510 sq mi), and the fifteenth-most populous, with 1,866,322 inhabitants, as of 2020.

Etymology

The name Düsuntberg is believed to have been derived “Die lant von a düsunt berge,” an ancient Kivuian phrase that translates literally to “The land of a thousand mountains” in Jackian.

Over time the name has been shortened to Düsuntberg, with Düsunt meaning thousand, and berg meaning mountain or mountains.
