The Air Tactics Training Program (Salisfordian: Programma di Addestramento Tattiche Aeree), abbreviated as PATA, is a Salisfordian program that teaches fighter and attack techniques and tactics to Royal Salisfordian Air Force pilots and combat systems officers, who then return to their units as surrogate trainers. The program is currently operated out of Casmir di Serino Air Force Base in the Salisfordian Western Highlands.

History

The Air Tactics Training Program can trace its roots back to the first days of the Royal Salisfordian Air Force, back when it was the Royal Salisfordian Aero Corps. In 1928, the head of the RSAC, Casmir di Serino realized that aerial combat would play a major role in future conflicts, and that Salisford would need talented and well-trained pilots[1]. In order to best capitalize on the new field of warfare, di Serino created the Air Warfare School on the 21st of November 1928.

The Air Warfare School would become Salisford's premier training school for combat pilots in the following decades and would produce many aces who would fly either as volunteers abroad or in Salisford's own civil war in 1969.

Directly following the Salisfordian Civil War, the Salisfordian military performed a major audit of its forces and doctrines. In keeping with this, the RSAF decided that its pilots were lacking key skills in both air combat manuvering (ACM) and beyond visual range (BVR) combat. To remedy this, the RSAF dissolved the Air Warfare School and reformed it as the Air Tactics Training Program with a new cirruculum and an increased focus on both ACM and BVR.

To honor the founder of the Air Warfare School and one of Salisford's aviation pioneers, the home airbase of the Air Tactics Training Program was renamed to the Casmir di Serino Air Force Base.

Course

The Air Tactics Training Program takes already experienced aircrew and puts them through a 8-week intense training course meant to sharpen their abilities in strike-fighter aircraft employment, tactics, hardware, and techniques.
