The 1959 Ecros Football Championship was the second edition of the LFE Ecros Championship. The contest was held in COUNTRY. It was won by COUNTRY x–x over COUNTRY in CITY. The defending champions were Terranihil. The 1959 tournament was the first with six members and hence the first to utilise a league stage in which all teams would play all others prior to the four best entering the knockout stage.

This was the first championship contested by Quebecshire and Reykanes.

League stage

The teams finishing the the four top positions progressed to the semi-finals, while the bottom two teams were eliminated from the tournament.

Tiebreakers

For the league stage of this tournament, where two or more teams tied on an equal number of points, the finishing positions were determined by the following tie-breaking criteria in the following order:

  1. number of points obtained in the matches among the teams in question
  2. goal difference in all league matches
  3. goals scored in all league matches
  4. drawing of lots

If two teams tied on points, goal difference and goals played against each other in their final league match and no other team finishes with the same points; in which case the tie is broken by a replay on the following day.

Knockout stage

In all matches but the final, extra time and a coin toss were used to decide the winner if necessary. If the final remained level after extra time, a further 15 minutes of sudden-death would be used to determine the winner. If both teams remain level after this period, a replay would occur on the next matchday with the aggregate determining the victor. If scores still remain even following the replay, a coin-toss is used to determine the champions.
