The Unicanian Army is the main land warfare branch of the Armed Forces of Guerra Heights. The modern Unicanian Army was founded by the new Holy Empire of Guerra Heights in 1937, after the conclusion of the Unicanian Civil War.

The Unicanian Army is primarily tasked with defending the territory of Guerra Heights and its allies, and supporting the local government (both nationally and internationally) in law enforcement, disaster relief and humanitarian aid missions.

In January 2023, the Chief of the Army was Miguel Cortez, and the army had a strength of 203,937 active duty personnel and 50,261 reservists.

History

Formation

Structure

The Unicanian Army is commanded by the Chief of the Army, who's primary responsibility is overseeing Army Command. Like their equivalents in the Unicanian Navy and the Unicanian Air Force, the chief of the army is subordinate to the Chief of the Armed Forces, is a member of the Armed Forces Command, and sits on the Federal Military Council.

The Army Command is located in Olisau, Guerra Heights. It oversees the army during peacetime operations such as, the maintaining and expanding the capabilities of the army, the protection of Guerra Height's territory, the training of enlisted personnel and necessary support staff, and providing the Armed Forces Command with the equipment and personnel necessary to carry out combat operations. The army can also be deployed for law enforcement, disaster relief, humanitarian aid, and other related missions, both within Guerra Height's borders and internationally.

Special Forces

In 1950, the Council of Unicania created the Unicanian Special Forces which are nicknamed "Dawners" and placed it under the command of the Unicanian Army. The Unicanian Special Forces is made up of three active duty regiments and two reserve duty regiments, and is overseen by the Director of Special Forces.

In 2023, women made up 30% of the Army, the number of women has gradually increased since 1983 when women were first allowed to serve in combat roles with the Unicanian Army. Women had been allowed to serve in non-combat roles beginning in 1968.

Training

Citizens of Guerra Heights over the age of 20 are eligible to enlist in the Unicanian Army. New enlistees undergo Protocol 1, also known as basic training, of their training at the Fort Calsu in Postano. After completing six months of training at Fort Calsu, the graduates are then sent to various bases across Guerra Heights to receive further training in their areas of expertise.

Guerra Heights has three military universities throughout the country, FFG Military Academy, Harris Military Univercity, and Laousia Military University, attendees are required to serve five years of active duty service in the military branch of their choice. Graduates become commissioned officers in the military branch of their choice, and are required to serve ten years of active duty service.
