The Association pour la Protection des Animaux, commonly reffered to as ASPA, is a shelter and protection association for animals, it was founded on June 12 1824 by Anas ibn Abd el-Rahman, ASPA is one of the oldest animal shelters in the world.
History
ASPA was founded by Anas ibn Abd el-Rahman on June 12 1824, while he was walking back home at night, he saw that there were kittens trying to find food on a cold night, standing there, he felt bad for them and ended up taking them home to warmth, he fed them and took really good care of them, but then he had an idea, there are many other animals out there who need protection and warmth, on the next day, he suggested to the Caliph that we build a place where we can take care of animals, and even give them for adoption to whoever can take care of them, The caliph liked that idea and ordered for a shelter to be built and for the stray animals to be transported there.
