Present Salisfordian car number plates have black characters on a rectangular white background. The current numbering scheme identifies the region the plate was issued in. By law, Salisfordian plates can only be made by the Zecca Reale and issued by local departments of motor vehicles.

History

Current design

In 1985, the current design of registration plates was adopted by the Salisfordian government and made standard across all regions. The plate consists of a white rectangular metal plate (size 12 inches by 4 inches), commonly made out of sheet aluminum, with black embossed digits on a white reflective background.

The code imprinted on the plate consists of a two-letter code identifying the region the vehicle was registered in followed by a unique 6-digit progressive code, which range from 000001 to ZZZZZZ (the sequence goes 0-9 and then A-Z, for example, 000009 is followed by 00000A and 009999 is followed by 0A0000).

Due to the possibility of the progressive code unintentionally spelling out comprehensible words, the Zecca Reale curates the possible codes which can be issued to prevent such codes from being given out.
