The Vaktrian Orthodox Church, also simply called the Vaktrian Church, is a Miaphysite Orthodox Church of the Vaktrian rite. Its liturgical language is Classical Vaktrian. The vast majority of its adherents are ethnic Vaktrian.
The Vaktrian Orthodox Church is headquarted in Dastivus, Terranihil. Its Patriarch is currently Musa II. The church is in communion with the Miaphysite Orthodox Churches, but not the Catholic Church. The Vaktrian Orthodox Church split from the Catholic Church in 451 after rejecting the verdict of the Council of Chalcedon.
History
Before Romanyan rule of Vaktria, all Vaktrians practiced Astrianism. Christianity reached Vaktria in the late 3rd century. Vaktrian Christian communities mostly sprouted in south Vaktria. Tradition holds the Vaktrian Church was founded in 268 However, Christianity was not firmly established until the late 4th century.
