UVR 2001S originally UVR 2001 is a general purpose 3.5 tonne 6x6 truck produced in Reykanes by Utanvegar Hf.. Started production in 1972 till 1998. Although it is no longer produced, it is still in use to this day due to it's robust design. Originally designed as a heavy duty truck, also used by the Reykani military for a period, It became popular by the Reykani Fire Department. Utanvegar upgraded the truck to better suit the Fire Department's needs and it was renamed to UVR 2001S in 1978. S stands for Slökkviliðið, which means Fire department in Reykani. The truck was mostly produced for the Fire brigade till 1983, meanwhile a plain version of the truck was also available for other buyers.
